Die Elektrolokomotiven der EuroSprinter-Familie von Siemens werden in Deutschland als Baureihe 182 bezeichnet. Mit der Leistung von 6.400 kW erreichen sie eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 230 km/h.
Ab 2009 bestand bei DB Fernverkehr ein Mangel an Hochgeschwindigkeitslokomotiven für den EuroCity-Verkehr. Abhilfe schaffte die Anmietung von ES 64 U2 (BR 182) bei MRCE. Seit dem Fahrplanwechsel 2010 wird das EuroCity-Paar 6/7 mit einer dieser Lokomotiven bespannt.
